XCR Round 1 Lakeside - 9 May 2026
We had pretty good conditions today at Lakeside - cool, no wind and no rain. As a result there were a lot of good times. Ed Marks won overall in 13:37. There were 6 runners under 14 minutes, 70 under 15 minutes and 250 under 17 minutes.
Our fastest Waverley runners were Davin Hopper and Ryan Bentley on 17:37. I think Davin was first across the line by a whisker. Then Martin Spiteri 18:01 (all time pb at 55), David Venour 18:12, and Tim Stickley 18:41 (all time pb at 57).
Also a surprising all time pb by Nick Spiteri 21:26 after a very big night out, and a long run the day before. Just shows the great form he's in at the moment. Smurf is also looking a million dollars, losing a lot of kg from last year.
The womens race was won by Donve Viljoen from Box Hill in 16:07. There were 109 women under 40 minutes. Our fastest was Niamh O'Reilly in 21:55, then Wendy 24:21, Janice 25:24, Em 26:01 and Petra 28:28.
Davin was 2nd fastest 60, Martin was 3rd fastest 50 and Smoothy was 5th fastest 55+.
Our men's 50 team were first and our men's 60+ team were second.
Also Ryan Bentley was presented with a medal for being the best summer athlete in his age group. Well done on some amazing results.

It was good to see House there on the sidelines (injured calf), suporting Waverley and his daughter Chloe in the U14 event. She does little Aths with Chris Knott's daughter.
