AVSL Round 5 Mt Evelyn & Keilor - 22 Nov

Well done at Yarra Ranges and Keilor yesterday. And welcome to new member Carl Spurling, who starred in the shot put and 200m.

Clyde somehow managed to do 5 events across the 2 venues, which mean't almost an hour plus circumnavigation of the northern suburbs of Melbourne.

- Craig Sanford was our highest point scorer with 1,181 with season PB's in both the 800m and shot put and a massive 472 points for his 2:11 800m
- Christine Bridle scored 1,142 points with season pb's in the triple jump and 200m
- Linda Buttigieg scored 1,108 points with season pb's in the shot put and 200m
Only a whisker separating those 3.
- Ryan Bentley went very close to the 1,000 points with 950 including our fastest 200m and 800m's, both with season pb's
- Daniel and Martin went head to head again in the 800m, and Daniel looked to have Martin covered with 10-15m on him with 200m to go. But Martin dug deep and again passed Daniel in the dying stages to keep his unbeaten record over his rapidly improving son. Surely it's only a matter of time now. Both beat or equalled their season pb's in the process.
- Amy ran a big 10 second season pb in the 1500m in 5:03. No Tessa this week, but after her 5:04 debut last week, it would be great to see them pushing each other head to head towards sub 5 minutes.
- Matt Harvey a big 4 second season pb in the 800m with 2:26 after leading most of the way

- Our fastest runners (in events with 2 or more) were:
Male: 200m Ryan Bentley 25.57, 800m Ryan Bentley 2:09.7, 1500m Ian Lawford 4:29.9, 1500m Walk Andrew Duncan 8:07
Female: 200m Christine Bridle 35.06, 800m Niamh O'Reilly 2:59.3, 1500m Amy Hessell 5:03.4
- Our best field events:
Male: Hammer Greg Carstairs 26.54, Shot Put Carl Spurling 9.29m, Triple Jump Arun Ashok 9.87m
Female: Hammer Christine Bridle 35.44m, Shot Put Linda Buttigieg 7.89m

Overall we scored 13,319 points, a big improvement on last week 11,939 points. We finished 7th, but behind the bottom 2 teams Corio and Ringwood. So we’re 7th on the ladder, but only 1 point ahead of Sandringham and Corio, and 3 ponts ahead of Ringwood. So next week will be really important.

Hopefully everyone can make our big powerplay Round 6, at Glenhuntly and Doncaster. We’ll need all hands on deck to get our absolutely biggest score possible for double points. Entries close on Wednesday at midday. Hopefully we can get as manay people as possible, and please consider doing 3 events if you can.
