XCR Round 4 Albert Park - Sat 15 Jun

Well done by the Waverley team who ran well this morning at Lakeside in the new 5K event. I wasn’t there but I can see in the results there were some great times:

- Smoothy (Dave Venour) our fastest in the super impressive time of 16:44 to be not only the fastest M55, but he was also faster than all the M50+ times. That time would have placed him top 3 in the world at the last World Masters Championsips. A superb run.
- Davin, our 2nd fastest in 17:52, was also the 2nd fastest M55.
- Martin was just 1 second behind him in 17:53, a real sprint finish battle.
The 3 of them cleaned up again in the M50+ teams. That’s 3 wins and a second now in M50+. We are just dominating.
- Martin Buden an impressive 19:07, and Daniel smashing his new pb from a couple of weeks ago with 19:16
- Peter, James M, Matt, Michael J, Harvs and Smurf all doing well. Special mention to Michael Jansen for his best points this season and first time ahead of Harvs
- Beck breaking 20 minutes with 19:53
- It’s great to see Nickie back running again for her first XCR run of the season.
- Em had her best run of the season
- Our W50+ team finished 6th, and our Women Div 3 team finished 5th.

In the Niamh v James McEniry battle, Niamh showed James who’s boss with a decisive 47 second victory. Whilst there was only 1 second separating them at Hanging Rock, Niamh has been progressively widening that with each race and now leads 4-0. Can McEniry come back?

In the Beck v Ernie battle, only 6 seconds have separated them in total over the previous 2 races. But illness kept Ernie from the start line today, and Beck now takes a narow lead 2-1 (with one draw).
